Fr. Varghese in his introductory article has referred to human values like generosity, love truth, forgiveness, truthfulness, friendship, faith, service, Mercy and Joy. He calls these human values “life-giving creeper” or “life-supporting plant”. If we cherish these values then they will make our lives more and more joyful, prosperous and successful.
In this book of “Odour of Success” Fr. Varghese speaks about love in its many and varied forms. That love can be seen in Jesus as well as in one’s mother. That love can also be in many forms like in merciful dealing, in friendship, in social service, in the service of the poor, in the welfare of the downtrodden. Love is also seen in seeking solution to sickness, ignorance, exploitation, fear, doubts and the like. Fr. Varghese has sung the glories of mother as well as of teacher. In his own way Fr. Varghese make us understand the glories of a teacher as creator God, Brahma, Sustainer god Vishnu and the destroyer god Maheshwar Siva (p.118).
There is music in the writing of Fr. Varghese composed of religiosity, morality and spirituality all in one tread musical instrument.
His writing is both releasable and inspiring. The creator has given us an opportunity to live on this earth. Let us take it as a very precious thing and the best of it through sustained effort. “Odour of Success” shows us the way.
